Gary Callaghan Tech IOSH (21 years West Midlands Fire Service) has a wealth of experience and knowledge in how to carry out residential fire risk assessment using the following two areas of competence:

• The published Government guidance document ‘Fire Safety Risk Assessment – Sleeping Accommodation’; for the common areas of HMO’s, and,

• Housing – Fire Safety’ published by LACoRS

Gary has worked with the award winning and friend of DASH Services ‘Homestamp’ since its inception in 2000, being its Secretary for the last 12 years.

‘Homestamp’ like DASH is a partnership consortium with an interest in private sector housing comprising of Local Authorities, the Private Rented Sector, West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service.

Gary has chaired a number of forums set up by the consortium including the research and development committee. This committee published a series of guides including, ‘A Guide to Fire and Security Protection in Multi Occupied Residential Properties.’ Elements of this publication were included in the text of the national fire safety guide for housing published by LACoRS in July 2008.
