Homelesness Prevention Programme - there is still time to apply
The DCLG is launching a programme of targeted interventions to reduce homelessness by making £40 million of funding available for local areas split into 3 different funds:
- Homelessness Prevention Trailblazer areas
This fund will consist of £20 million to establish a network of ambitious homelessness prevention trailblazing areas to develop innovative new approaches to prevent homelessness with Greater Manchester, Newcastle and Southwark in London signed up as early adopters.
- Rough sleeping grant fund
This £10 million fund will enable local areas to intervene early with rough sleepers before their problems become entrenched.
- Social Impact Bond Funding
£10 million will be made available to assist the most entrenched rough sleepers by getting them into accommodation and addressing their individual complex needs via personalised support packages.
Who can Bid?
Local Authorities either individually or working with other Authorities with preference is given to multi agency bids (such as where there are links with health, criminal justice and employment services as well as wider partners dealing with housing/ homelessness – it is clear within the prospectus that there is a very strong focus on multi-agency approaches) or, where appropriate, bids across Local Authority boundaries.
Local Authorities can bid for more than one of the Rough Sleeper Programme Funds or the Homelessness Prevention Trailblazer Fund. A separate application must be made with explains how the bids are complementary.
This programme will focus on an array of specific areas to include:
- Universal prevention
- Targeted Prevention
- Crisis relief
- Recovery, and
- Move-on support
with bids to be submitted electronically by November 28 2016.
