Proposed Selective Licensing scheme in West Lindsey
The final proposals for a selective licensing scheme in Gainsborough South West Ward will be presented to Councillors of the Prosperous Communities Committee at their meeting on the 22nd March 2016. These proposals, if approved, will require all landlords who own privately rented properties in the area to obtain a licence from the Council, requiring them to meet certain conditions. The landlord will also have to go through a fit and proper person test and pay a fee to the Council to cover the costs of administering the scheme.
The introduction of a selective licensing scheme is aimed at reducing the levels of anti-social behaviour in the area, whilst at the same time improving housing conditions and enabling the Council to prosecute any landlords who fail to meet the required conditions of the licence.
The area that may be affected consists of around 500 private rented properties and covers the area south of Tesco down to Lea Road Station. For more information visit:
