Lincolnshire Landlords Newsletter Issue 22 - Council tax and void periods (Boston)
In Boston Borough, the Council Tax Team are aware of the ongoing issues regarding council tax charges raised when a tenant vacates a property and some or all of the 1 month exemption period has been exhausted. The result being that the landlord/owner ends up with an unexpected Council Tax bill.
In order to try and remove some of the issues they are introducing a form that the tenant and landlord/owner/agent can complete and sign together. This will provide the Team with agreed dates and allow a more transparent method of applying the exemption to the correct account. It is hoped that landlords and agents will support the Team by using the form and they welcome any feedback from landlords on its content or the process itself.
