Online Home Fire Safety Check

Did you know there are around 35,000 house fires and over 300 fire related deaths in Great Britain each year?   You can use this tool to keep your tenants safe.

By using this free link https://www.safelincs.co.uk/hfsc  you can now encourage tenants to carry out their own fire safety check.  You can also check the tenant’s potential fire risk by using this easy-to-follow home fire safety checker. This has been developed through a partnership with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), Fire Kills and Safelincs (fire & safety solutions).

The questionnaire will take you through the home, one room at a time and the simple questions will help you spot fire risks as you go around, the process will take about 15 minutes to complete. The tool will offer tips and advice on the steps you can take to reduce those risks.

At the end of the quiz you will receive a personalised fire safety action plan to help keep your tenant’s household safe from fire. The easy tick box questionnaire can be translated into any language and you also have the option of referring to your local Fire service for a free fire safety check visit.

Updates to the Fire Safety Order

In June 2022 it will be 5 years since the Grenfell Tower fire and the expectation of changes to occur as a result will amend the Fire safety Order. This will include a requirement for fire risk assessments to be recorded for buildings to improve how fire safety information is handed over throughout the life time of the building.

The Government has announced landlords, letting agencies and property managers of HMOs face unlimited fines following new measures to strengthen fire safety. The new rules will not apply to domestic properties but apply to HMOs and other multi-tenancy premises.
