To-Let boards set to be banned in parts of Lincoln
‘To-let’ boards are set to be banned on some streets in Lincoln, after the plans were given approval by the Secretary of State.
City of Lincoln Council decided to apply for the ban, after running a public consultation on ‘problem areas’ in the city. The council received 84 complaints from local residents that ‘to-let’ boards were creating an ‘eyesore’ in the city.
The plan has been given approval by the Secretary of State, and it will now go before the council’s executive for final approval before implementation can begin in April.
The council applied for the ban in several areas, including the West End, and Union Road. The ban would also affect properties in Monks Road, Sincil Bank and Waterloo Street.
It comes as a similar ban on to-let boards was introduced last summer in some areas of Leicester.
What is Regulation 7?
Councils can apply for powers to control the display of ‘To Let’ boards under Regulation 7 of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007.
