New measures to further reform the Building Safety system
New measures to further reform the Building Safety system have today (2nd April) been announced by Government.
In a statement issued by Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick, measures include the introduction of mandatory sprinkler systems and consistent wayfinding signage in all new high-rise blocks of flats over 11 metres.
It comes in response to the Government’s Building a Safer Future consultation – building on the recommendations from Dame Judith Hackitt’s Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety.
This new announced set of measures also includes the appointment of independent construction expert David Hancock to review the progress of unsafe ACM claddings from buildings.
