Renting is Changing – In Derby & Nationally for all

Derby City Council is asking for your views on the proposed Private Landlords’ Charter, while also preparing for major changes coming into force under the Renters’ Rights Act from 1 May.

The draft Landlords’ Charter sets out clear expectations for landlords across Derby, including property safety, legal compliance, tenancy management and professional conduct. It is designed to support higher standards and improve conditions in the private rented sector for tenants across the city.

At the same time, significant new national legislation, under the Renters’ Rights Act will begin to take effect from 1 May.

These changes will impact landlords, letting agents and tenants, so it is important to understand what’s coming and how it may affect you.

Derby City Council is encouraging all landlords, tenants, letting agents and residents to:

·       Review the proposed Landlords’ Charter

·       Take part in the consultation

·       Familiarise themselves with the upcoming legislative changes

·       Get prepared as ‘Renting is Changing’
