Aim of the course
HMO’s are often the most testing area within the private rented sector to deal with. The course will allow practitioners to be confident in understanding the procedures from the license application, through inspection and where necessary to follow up with the appropriate notices.

Course Outline
- General HHSRS enforcement powers relevant to HMOs - includes references to significant RPT decisions for example those relating to powers of entry
- HMO Definition & Introduction to Licensing – the definition explained. Also includes brief section on planning controls
Licensing regime - which properties fall into definition and penalties for breach of conditions. Includes session on revocation and the implications of revocation. - Management Regulations, HHSRS & Other Powers - regulatory framework including detailed consideration of hazards commonly found in HMOs (personal hygiene, sanitation and drainage, food safety, fire, overcrowding, electrical hazard, carbon monoxide, entry by intruders, etc).
- Practicalities with Inspections and Enforcement - includes sections on evidential issues and prosecution.
Course Fee
£250 non DASH subscribing Local Authorities, £295 DASH subscribing Local Authorities rate per delegate - This includes the certification and course packs.
