Fire Safety 2 day Training Course
Who Should Attend?
This is a two day course which has been developed as a useful starting point on the basic principles of fire safety aimed at Local authority officers and Housing professionals.
The course will be delivered over 2 days. & has been recently reviewed and refreshed so we are exciting to offer this to our customers
Delegates will need to attend all 2 sessions to pass the course.
Course Content
Day 1
Managing Fire Safety in single family dwellings and common parts of blocks of flats
- Overview of relevant fire legislation. Fire safety Order and HHSRS
- Principles of fire – Ignition, types of fire & spread.
- Basics of passive and active fire precautions
- Effective means of escape from fire.
- Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety Act 2022 & Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (amendment) Regulations 2022
- Assessing the fire risk in flats and houses
- Practical Exercises.
Day 2
Fire Risk Assessments & ‘Managing Fire Safety in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
- Application of HHSRS (hazard 24) in flats, HMOs and common parts of flats.
- HMO Licensing and fire safety management
- HMO Licensing and fire safety management
- Fire Risk Assessments for HMOs and common parts of blocks of flats & evacuation strategies.
- Fire precautions in HMOs and poorly converted (HA 2004 S.257) flats (with exercises)
- Flats above shops
- Fire safety- A joint responsibility.
Course Fee: DASH Member: £425 per delegate Non DASH member £495 per delegate

The course will be held in Derby which has good transport links across the country as well as free delegate parking for those wishing to drive. The venue is a short taxi ride from Derby City Train station
