I am a Letting Agent – why do I need to know about DASH Landlord Accreditation?
Agents tell us that landlords who have a basic understanding of their legal requirements make the best clients as they are more open to the agent's suggestions re: on going repairs, appreciate the complexities of ending a tenancy & have realistic expectations, don't do things that put the tenancy in jeopardy etc... therefore we are asking agent to promote accreditation to their clients.
Accreditation does not replace the role of an agent and it is worth noting that DASH Landlords Accreditation thoroughly promotes the benefits of landlords working with good reputable agents however ultimately, in the majority of cases, the landlord remains legally responsible for the health and safety and legality of all the properties they own – something DASH can help with.
From a tenant's prospective a landlord who carries a kitemark for professionalism in addition to a reputable agent can be seen as a much more desirable option.
Furthermore in order to gain any financial benefits that are associated with accreditation, for example licensing discount the individual landlord, not the agent, will need to become accredited so agents who recommend DASH Landlord Accreditation are actually saving their clients money.
